As always, I absolutely adore how unabashed Midoriya is in his admiration and I love that this particular trait of their relationship is what makes it different from the classic shonen protagonist/deuteragonist rivalry.
But what I find so endearing about this chapter’s exchange is how clear Horikoshi made it that Bakugou is involved in this new playful rivalry thing. When he first said “I’m progressing further than you!” and Midoriya’s reaction was (of course) Kacchan sugoi!to compliment him, it looks likehe made that face not really because he was bothered by the praise but because he was half expecting Midoriya to reply something like he’d surpass him. So he proceeded to specify that he’s moving so fast youcan’t even catch up! to make it obvious he was challenging him
He could have easily left it at that or ask Midoriya not to praise him again, but instead he repeated his declaration like he wanted Midoriya to raise to his challenge. Bakugou has always spurred Midoriya to improve but so far his utter admiration has been stronger than his determination to surpass him so it’s only natural they’re still adjusting to this new dynamic as proper rivals. And just look how happy and excited he is to be recognized as his equal and prove his worth to someone he’ admired for all his life
im extremely nosy but i dont have loose lips and thats the best combination tbh im not here to spread rumors or hurt anyone im only in it for the knowledge of everyone’s business i wont tell anybody but i NEED to possess ALL of the secrets
me hearing all the different sides of the story because everyone involved has told me directly what their take on the situation is but not saying anything and just watching it unfold like a intensely dramatically ironic shakespearean play with an audience of one (1) which is ME
I was bored and sad about sns today and thinking about how even though it’s the mitsi era there aren’t any nobody AMVs so I pretended I was a fourteen year old in 2007. both naruto and sasuke are so defined by loneliness, and it seemed. right
